Jared Garland
Owner // Operations
Born and raised in Virginia, Jared’s interest in renovations and woodworking started early. From watching the first walls of his parents’ home addition go up at age ten, to later helping his dad install and deliver cabinets across Northern Virginia, he's been hands-on from the start. After several years managing projects and working in the field for a Maryland general contractor, he set out to build something of his own. Now living in Frederick with wife, Abbie, and tyrant-toddler, Tucker — if he’s not deep into a weekend garage project, he’s tending to his flowers or getting his head wrapped around the next big undertaking for Mill-Spec.
Nick Zittle
Owner // Lead Carpenter
Born and raised in Jefferson, Maryland, Nick has spent nearly 30 years shaping a career built on craftsmanship and precision. His lifelong interest in woodworking and carpentry led him from a prominent Maryland millwork company, working up and down the Eastern seaboard, to a general contractor, where he honed his skills across all phases of construction. Now Mill-Spec’s lead carpenter and millworker, Nick specializes in detailed finish work that defines each project’s final look. Living in Jefferson with his family — including a son already curious about the trade — when he’s not in the shop, he’s usually in the kitchen experimenting with new ramen recipes or fiddling with the smoker.
